Musical styles include Middle Eastern, Folk, Gospel, Soft Rock, 4 Part Vocal A Capella and Native Americana. Co-produced by Phil Aaberg (former keyboardist with Peter Gabriel and Elvin Bishop) “Native Anthropology” boldly goes where Jack’s audience dream it should go.

Blackfeet   Storysmith

Wally Gladstone with Jack Gladstone

(2005)

This 2 CD epic set, told by my late father, chronicles his odyssey from the Blackfeet Indian reservation to government boarding school, to combat in WWII then to eventual re-union with relatives and homeland. I contribute musical soundtrack, 3 new songs and interpretive commentary to help the listener grasp the historical and global reach of my dad’s experiences. “Blackfeet Storysmith” is an inspirational template for the oral history movement.

Odyssey West, with Rob Quist    $10.00

Mountain West Christmas is a musical Christmas card featuring traditional, contemporary and eclectic arraignments of classic holiday songs. Produced with David Griffith and Jack’s best friend, Kendall Flint, the album also showcases the “pure holiday voice” of Ron Blacken, a football teammate of Jack’s at the University of Washington.  This Christmas album is a harmonic blend of melody and memories ideal to share with family, friends and loved ones.

Buffalo Republic

(2000)

The sequel to Buffalo Cafe with ten songs providing melodic snapshots of people, events and legends as Jack chronicles the transformation of U.S. Western culture. Well equipped with the tools of lyrical poetry, Gladstone musically examines the irony, contradictions, humor and consequential impacts of Manifest Destiny.

Buffalo Stew

“Narrative Seasoned with Story & Song”, “Stew” is edited from the concert tour recordings made after the release of Buffalo Cafe. The spoken word segments deepen the listener’s awareness and understanding of the themes and eras that informed and inspired the songs.

In the Shadow of Mt. Lassen

(1991)

A live recording, and mostly acoustic, with the first commercially available two track digital recording deck. The album is conspicuous for both its simplicity of production and clarity in delivery.  Released originally on cassette.

This album is no longer in print. However, album & songs are still available on Buckskin PoetSongs (MP3).

Wolves on Sea & Plain

(1988)

Jack’s debut album recorded in Seattle and Reno with a folk, country, pop, and rock feel. Big Production. My daughter Mariah’s favorite CD. “Wolves on Sea” traces an ill fated Arctic voyage to discover the northwest passage. “Wolves on Plain” de-elvolves the American-West from barn dances, drunken cowboys, Custer’s Last Stand to a Girl who married Morning Star.

This album is no longer in print. However, album & songs are still available on Buckskin PoetSongs (MP3) and as digital downloads.

Noble Heart

(1995)

Stories honoring the endurance of the proud individual spirit. Central to this album are epics dedicated to Jim Thorp (“Bright Path”), Fort Benton’s famous vigilant canine “Old Shep”, and “Navajo Code Talkers”. The themes are sacrifice, self-actualization, love of sport and homeland, and the powerful bonds of friendship.

This album is no longer in print. However, album & songs are available on Buckskin PoetSongs (MP3) and for digital download.

Buckskin Poet Society

(1992)

A projection into serious mytho-poetic subjects, heavily inspired by Jack’s first exposure to mythologist, Joseph Campbell. This collection is considered by Jack’s listeners to be a sentimental favorite.

This album is no longer in print. However, album & songs are available on Buckskin PoetSongs (MP3) and as digital downloads.

Buffalo Cafe   $15.00

Tappin’ The Earth’s Backbone   $15.00

(2002)

The storysongs spring from the east slope of the Rockies adjacent to the Blackfeet reservation. A somber highlight is the haunting “Sometimes Eagles” a story of heroism, sacrifice, and tragedy stemming from combat over Nazi Germany in WWII. “Tappin the Backbone” is a phrase that, according to Jack, can be taken numerous ways. “We tap the earth when we walk and dance. We tap into something for a deeper understanding. Tappin’ into the Backbone implies that we’re reaching for the deepest level possible of our planet’s being -- physically, emotionally and spiritually.”
