BUCKSKIN POETSONGS
NEW MP3 ALBUM
NOW AVAILABLE
This album contains over 100 of Jack's songs in mp3 format, ready to be loaded
onto your iPod, played on your computer, or any other mp3 player. The CD
contains songs from 11 different albums, ranging from 1988 to 2004. Over
seven hours of listening pleasure.
For those who are interested in
learning more about Jack's musicology, we have added
the lyrics of all of Jack's original songs directly on the CDROM.
The lyrics are formatted with indents to indicate the rhyming scheme and musical
structures, e.g. bridges.
Some Technical Details:
The CDROM is designed to run on a
computer with Internet Explorer (or other net browser) and automatically
presents a menu: (1) To Listen to the songs, (2) To view the Lyrics as a
web page, or (3) To view and print the lyrics from pdf files. If the user
selects to listen, then the default player (such as Windows Media Player) is
started and opens a playlist. (If your media player does not open the
playlist automatically, make sure the media player is set to open files with the
extension of .m3u ) .
If the user selects to view the
lyrics as on a web site, then the default Internet Browser brings up a page to
select the song of interest. If the user selects to use the pdf format, a
default pdf viewer must be installed and will automatically bring up the song
selection page. (Note that a free pdf viewer is available from a link at
the top of the PDF format page. You must be connected to the Internet to
download this free viewer from Adobe.)
To load the mp3 songs to a portable
player, you must use the software provided to load your particular mp3 player.
(Itunes is an example for use with Ipod.) Import the playlist found in the
top level directory of the CDROM. Portable CDROM players which are
designed to play mp3 songs (e.g. in new cars) will load the playlist automatically when the CDROM
is inserted or will scan the CDROM for all mp3 files. The files on the
CDROM are in the same order as the playlist.

New Student/Teacher Workshops
As one of our nation's premier cultural resources, Jack Gladstone is a leading
voice in the promotion of Indian Education and Awareness. Through
masterful utilization of musical, poetic, rhetorical and visual images, Jack
shares with his audiences both the mythic and historical essence of Montana's
"first" peoples.
Upon graduation from the University of
Washington in 1982, he taught and coached on the Blackfeet Reservation for four
years. In 1985, he co-founded Glacier Park's "Native America Speaks"
program which celebrates its 22nd year in 2006. In 1987, Jack formed
Hawkstone Productions, a company which specializes in live and recorded Native
programming. With over a dozen CDs to his credit, he was recently named by
Grammy Magazine as one of four contemporary Native Artists "with breakout
potential".
In conjunction with the Lewis and Clark
Bicentennial, Jack has been in high demand nationally, delivering programs on
"Blackfeet Perspectives of the Expedition". His narrative voice also
graces the soundtrack of the official Lewis and Clark film, "Confluence of Time
and Courage". Jack's workshops, lectures and performances are designed to
educate as well as entertain. To assist Montana's School Districts in
launching their Indian Education Initiatives, the following
Student/Teacher Workshops are offered:
|
I. Tribal
Mythology - Examination and Interpretation |
| II. Native Montana -
Perspectives in Time |
| III. US Gov't / American Indian Treaties -
Their Meaning and Relevance |
|
IV. Discovering Harmony -

21st Century Montana |
