Glacier National Park
Native America Speaks Program
Founded in 1985

The "Native America Speaks" series is regarded as one of the best special programs offered in the park, and has been running for almost three decades. This program emphasizes the Blackfeet, Salish, and Kootenai cultural influences in Glacier. Tribal members give special evening campfire talks several times a week. During these free 45 minute presentations, they share information about history, life, culture, and native legends. Jack Gladstone is a co-founder of these programs and is featured throughout campgrounds during Glacier’s summer schedule.
Jack Gladstone, a Grammy-nominated Blackfeet singer/songwriter, also presents his popular “Native Anthropology” program, which uses video and his original music and stories to honor Native American contributions to American culture. “Native Anthropology” programs will take place at the Lake McDonald Lodge Auditorium and at Many Glacier Hotel at 8 PM throughout the summer. The proceeds from these programs go directly to support the Native America Speaks interpretive initiative.

All Native American interpretive programs offered at Glacier National Park are made possible through a generous donation from the Glacier Natural History Association (GNHA). Each year the association contributes a generous portion of their revenue to the park to support interpretive and educational programming
